For some time, users of our Document Delivery and Document Links products have requested the ability to send ‘Linked’ Documents from Document Links through Document Delivery in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. We are pleased to announce that this functionality is now available in the latest versions of Clever Dynamics' products.
For some time, users of our Document Delivery and Document Links products have requested the ability to send ‘Linked’ Documents from Document Links through Document Delivery in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. We are pleased to announce that this functionality is now available in the latest versions of Clever Dynamics' products.
Let’s take a look at how this works. First, we need to attach the document we wish to send using Document Links on the relevant record in Dynamics 365 Business Central. In this example, I will be attaching a document to a Posted Sales Invoice. To begin, I have navigated to the Posted Sales Invoice list and dragged and dropped the document within the Document Links part of the FactBox.
Next, we need to ensure that the attachment has Document Attributes, which can be checked by selecting the No. of Links within the FactBox.

Ensure that the Linked Document Attributes have been populated
Next, navigate to the Document Types list and select the PSI – Posted Sales Invoice Document Type. Next, scroll down to the Attachments FastTab and create a new line, setting the Sequence No. to 2 and the Attachment Type field to Attachment. Drop down in the Attachment Code field and select New.
On the Doc. Delivery Attachments populate the Code, Description and ensure that the Linked Document field has been selected. The Linked Doc. Attribute Code and Linked Doc Attribute Value must be populated to match what we assigned earlier against the Attachment of, in this example, the Posted Sales Invoice.
With the setup complete, now let’s take a look at the result. First, I have navigated to the Posted Sales Invoices list and selected Print/Send > Send Email (Doc. Delivery).
As you can see the email attachments contain both the Posted Sales Invoice Document as well as the Linked Attachment from the beginning of this blog.
As you can see with the integration between Document Links and Document Delivery we have made it incredibly easy to send your attachments via email to your customers and vendors.
Also, remember that if you have the Clever Essentials package, you already have access to both Document Links and Document Delivery!
